Beam Air Blower Fan Guide

TROUBLESHOOTING:

**Before attempting any of the following, please be sure that the Beam Air Fume Extractor is unplugged from the wall outlet to avoid serious injury from electrical shock.**

The Beam Air Fume Extractor utilizes a 48V blower-style fan to pull exhausted air from the laser cutter, through the 4-stage filtration system. There are a few required steps to determine the functionality of the power supply:

  1. Be sure that the wall outlet is supplying the proper output voltage (115VAC for US, 230VAC for Europe) and that the power cord is firmly plugged into the rear of the Beam Air. For customers with a 230VAC power grid, please see this article before proceeding.
  2. Press the Power Button on the front of the Beam Air and identify if the White LED ring illuminates. If it does not illuminate, proceed to the next step. If the LED illuminates, rotate the Speed Adjustment Knob counter-clockwise until you hear a click, then rotate it clockwise about a 1/8 turn to confirm if the fan turns on. If not, proceed to the next step.
  3. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Then, turn the Beam Air up-side down and remove the 16 Philips screws around the perimeter of the lower access panel. Once removed, set the lower access panel aside.
  4. With the lower access panel removed, locate the Control Board (green) which is mounted internally next to the Power Input Socket. Firmly press down on the Blower Fan Connector to ensure that it is making proper contact with the pins. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and press the Power Button to ensure that the fan turns on. (BE SURE NOT TO TOUCH ANYTHING INSIDE OF THE CASE WHEN THE UNIT IS PLUGGED INTO THE WALL OUTLET)  If the fan does not turn on, it may need to be replaced. Please contact us for the proper replacement part.

REPLACEMENT:

The required materials for the replacement procedure are as follows:

  • Philips screwdriver
  • Replacement blower fan

To start, unlatch the four latches that are securing the top lid, then remove the lid and set it to the side. Once removed, carefully lift the filter assembly out of machine and set it to the side as well.

Tilt the Beam Air on its side so that you have access to both the electronics cavity (bottom side) and the filter cavity (top side). First, disconnect the Blower Fan Connector from the control board, located inside of the electronics cavity.

While supporting the blower fan with one hand, locate and remove the 4 Philips screws from inside the filter cavity -- these are securing the blower fan to the machine casing. Carefully remove the defective blower fan and set it to the side. To install the new Blower Fan, follow these steps in reverse order.
