Z-Axis Gantry Leveling for Pulse
The Pulse 3D Printer uses a single stepper driver to control both Z-axis stepper motors in parallel. This means that if the Z-axis gantry is thrown off-level, the steppers must be manually adjusted to re-level the gantry.
- Connect the Pulse to your computer and open the MatterControl slicer.
- Navigate to the Controls tab and select the 'Home' icon in the upper-left of the tab -- this icon looks like a small house. The printhead will Home to the upper-left of the printer.
- Once properly Homed, power off the printer.
- Inspect the top of each Z-axis lead screw, and verify that there is an equal height sticking out above the lead screw nut. If the gantry is not level, one side will stick out more than the other. See below for an example of an un-level gantry.
-
To re-level the gantry, grab and hold both lead screws simultaneously. Rotate only one lead screw at a time until there is an equal height sticking out above the lead screw nut. See below for an example of a leveled gantry.
-
Once successfully leveled, be sure to perform both the Z Offset and Bed Leveling calibration in MatterControl before attempting a test print.
